A Man Survive More Than a Year Adrift at Sea

Jose Alvarenga claimed  that he set out from Mexico in his boat in late 2012 and was blown out to sea, surviving on open ocean until washing ashore more than 5,000 miles away in the Marshall Islands on January 30, 2014.

This 37-year-old fisherman said he subsisted on fish, birds, and turtles caught by hand and he relied on drinking turtle blood and his own urine when rainwater was unavailable.According to experts, the theory that this fisherman survived many months at sea seems plausible.

In the article the plausible limit for a human to survive without food is generally five to six weeks. Some other critical and limiting factors for survival depend on the temperature, which determines water loss from sweating.
